Terms and Conditions
BEC Tax & Accounting Solutions
These Terms & Conditions apply to all services provided by BEC Tax & Accounting Solutions and form part of our engagement when you appoint us to deliver tax and accounting services.
Our Responsibilities
Services are limited strictly to those outlined in your engagement letter or as otherwise agreed to in writing.
We perform services in accordance with relevant professional and ethical standards, including:
APES 220 Taxation Services
APES 110 Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (including Independence Standards)
Tax Agent Services Act 2009
Tax Agent Services (Code of Professional Conduct) Determination 2024
We are not engaged to conduct a statutory audit or review. As such, we will not express an audit opinion or provide assurance on your financial reports or tax returns. Our services are not designed to detect fraud or irregularities; however, if such matters come to our attention, we will inform you.
As required by APES 110 (NOCLAR), we must report any actual or suspected non-compliance with laws or regulations (whether by you, management, or staff) where applicable.
Client Responsibilities
As the client, you are responsible for:
Maintaining an effective accounting and record-keeping system
Providing accurate and timely information, documentation, and answers to any reasonable requests
Reviewing and approving documentation prior to lodgement
Retaining all relevant records to support your tax returns and claims
Meeting ATO and other regulatory due dates
If information is delayed or inaccurate, we may be unable to meet statutory deadlines, and you may become liable for any resulting penalties, fees, or losses. BEC Tax & Accounting Solutions will not be held responsible in such circumstances.
You are personally responsible for the content of all returns, forms, and statements lodged on your behalf. You must retain documentation that substantiates all deductions, claims, and declarations.
Lodgement & Safe Harbour
Before any returns or forms are lodged with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) or other bodies, you will be given the opportunity to review and approve all documents.
Under the Taxation Administration Act 1953, you may be eligible for “safe harbour” protection from administrative penalties. To access this, you must provide all relevant taxation information to us in a timely and complete manner.
Legal & Professional Compliance
While we have a professional duty to act in your best interests, this is subject to our overriding obligation to comply with the law. For example, we will not lodge a return we believe contains materially false or misleading information.
Where we identify discrepancies or incorrect disclosures, we may be required to:
Recommend a correction
Withdraw from our engagement
Notify the ATO that you have not acted on our advice
Take action in the public interest
This engagement is governed by the laws of Western Australia, and both parties agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
Fees, Invoicing & Refund Policy
All fees will be clearly outlined in your engagement letter, either as a fixed quote or a price range estimate. Fees are based on the time, expertise, and professional judgement required to complete the work.
Invoices are issued on completion of work, or in instalments for more complex engagements. Standard payment terms are strictly 7 days from the invoice date.
A $50 administration fee applies to all new clients. This covers the initial setup of your client file, verification of identity checks, and associated onboarding administration. This fee is charged once the engagement letter is signed and is non-refundable if the appointment is cancelled after this stage. The amount will be applied as a credit towards your final invoice.
As services are tailored and delivered professionally, no refunds are offered once work has commenced or is completed—regardless of whether you receive a tax refund or a payable outcome. Fees are based on the time, skill, and care taken to complete the work, not the result of your return.
If you have any questions about this policy, email us at: admin@bectax.com.au
Ownership of Documents
Documents such as tax returns, financial statements and original records provided by you remain your property. Internal working papers, notes, software data files, and ledgers created by us during the engagement remain the property of BEC Tax & Accounting Solutions.
Any additional work caused by the late, inaccurate, or incomplete provision of information may be billed separately.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the provision of services will be limited to the total fees paid for those services under this agreement. This limitation applies regardless of how the claim arises.

Your personal and financial data may be securely stored or accessed via cloud-based services with servers located in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. For further details, please refer to our full Privacy Policy.
